On Wednesday, May 8th we begin our Arts Alive journey with a visit to the headquarters of Travois, a nationwide company whose mission is to build new housing in traditional American Indian communities.

In tribute to indian cultures, they present monthly exhibits of art showing the various contemporary forms of traditional material.

Decadent History:Cheating Change brings the work of artist Jason Garcia, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico to the walls of Travois. His work combines traditional Pueblo pottery with contemporary indian popular culture. In additional, his drawings and paintings will reflect 21st century popular themes.

We'll begin at 5:30 with a reception and visit to the beautiful Travois building at 310 W. 19th Ter.(just south of the Kauffman Center). There is a spectacular rooftop view of the Crossroads and weather permitting, we'll offer the reception there. Phil and Elizabeth Bland Glynn will greet us and show us around.

We'll depart for the Quality Hill Playhouse, 303 W. 10th street at 7 o'clock for a 7:30 curtain. This is their 24th year and with J. Kent Barnhart at the helm, the entire American music songbook has been featured. We'll be entertained with music from the 60s and 70s featuring songs from traditional musicals(Hello, Dolly) to the new brand of musicals like Pippin, Godspell and Hair.
