In October 2024, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art announced an international design competition to undertake a major expansion of the museum’s campus with the goal to attract new audiences by creating a vibrant space to host more art and offer new creative, immersive and energizing experiences.
The competition attracted submissions from 182 teams in 30 countries on six continents. Six finalist teams were chosen to proceed to stage two of the competition. From this shortlist, a winner will be chosen by the museum’s Architect Selection Committee (ASC) in spring 2025. We will learn about submissions from these finalists (by team lead and in alphabetical order):
Kengo Kuma & Associates (Tokyo)
Renzo Piano Building Workshop (Genoa)
Selldorf Architects (New York)
Studio Gang (Chicago)
Weiss/Manfredi Architecture (New York)
WHY Architecture (Los Angeles)
A reminder that tickets are not refundable. Should your schedule change you are welcome to sell or give your tickets to others. Our Facebook group might be helpful in finding someone to use unwanted tickets.
