Join Arts Alive at two exciting cultural events in Johnson County this October! On the afternoon
of Saturday, October 15 th , we’ll see the new exhibit at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary
Art then continue on to the Johnson County Arts & amp; Heritage Center for the 2PM curtain of the
musical Always...Patsy Cline.
We’ll assemble on the ground floor of the Nerman at 11:30 to tour Adorned, an exhibit of over
80 works by local and nationally known artists. In times of political, social and economic strife,
adornment becomes our balm of choice. As we invest in objects to further our personal style,
we begin to feel confident and find comfort in this chaotic world. Adorned will excite you like
few other exhibits have and the new director, JoAnn Northrup, will lead us through the
collection of these amazing artworks.
After the tour, we’ll have lunch prepared by the JCCC Culinary School, then head to the Johnson
County Arts and Heritage Center at 88th and Metcalf for the matinee performance of
Always...Patsy Cline, a musical about the life and songs of singer Patsy Cline, one of the most
influential vocalists of the 20th century and one of the first country music artists to cross over
into pop. This is down home country humor at its finest and we’ll enjoy an afternoon of music
as we relive the story of this legendary country singer who died tragically in a 1963 plane crash.
Cost of the entire day including lunch is only $35 per person, so sign up quickly as the theater is
small to join us for another memorable Arts Alive event.
