Joshua Redman at the Folly & Keep It Real exhibit at The Belger Arts Center

April 11th will find Arts Alive returning to its Kansas City roots with a visit first to the Belger Arts Center followed by Jazz at the Folly Theater.

We arrive at 6pm at the Belger, 21st and Walnut, where they are celebrating 100 years of the founding of the Belger Cartage Company with the exhibit entitled Keep It Real. The show will highlight photographs, paintings and objects representing the Belger collection's view of the innovations, continuity, observation and responsiveness relating to the past 100 years of progress in America. After our usual reception, we'll tour the exhibition led by Director Mo Dickens, then head to the Folly Theater for the 8 o'clock performance.

Tenor Sax Joshua Redman heads a quartet of musicians who will have just released their latest album, Come What May. They arrive directly from the Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC for this performance which features pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Gregory Hutchinson. Redman has been referred to as one of the finest jazz improvisors of the 21st Century.

We look forward to seeing you at the Belger. We've had to raise prices to $40 per person. Inflation has caught up with us but we still offer amazing value for an evening of the best of Kansas City's cultural community.
