With his powerful bold vocal range, his strikingly tall and slender silhouette, and his curiously intimate live performances, audiences around the world are falling in love with Kansas City’s own Calvin Arsenia. Self-accompanied with the Celtic folk harp, Arsenia has found a musical niche that suits his dynamic and sultry style. His unique voice hints to his classical training as he croons through familiar tunes and when he glides through original musings, he erupts effortlessly into sounds that only the angels could have taught him. Calvin Arsenia says that he is “seeking transcendence one pluck at a time” and aims to lift and inspire audiences as he travels the globe sharing his stories and songs.

We'll begin the evening at 5PM at the Diastole Scholars’ Center on Hospital Hill. The Center, a private UMKC off-campus facility, is the former home of Dr. and Mrs. Dimond who lived there until 1983. The expansive collections throughout three floors of Chinese and Japanese paintings and prints, woodcarvings, photographs, gourds, memorabilia, silver, and books, including 3,000 versions of Omar Khayyam’s most famous work, The Rubaiyat, will enthrall you.

Starting shortly before 7 PM, Calvin Arsenia will captivate you with his songs and musical stories, accompanied with his Celtic folk harp, in the Kiva, the dynamic, informal theater-in-the-round at Diastole.
