On Friday evening, October 18th, Arts Alive will attend the Grand Opening exhibit in the new space of the Kansas City Artists Coalition followed by the World Premier of the Kansas City Ballet's performance of Carmina Burana. Join us for this wonderful evening of photography and dance beginning at 5:30pm at 3200 Gillham Plaza in their beautiful new space.
After 33 years in the River Market, the Artists Coalition has moved into a beautiful totally renovated building and their new Executive Director, Marissa Starke, has invited 25 artists from the Kansas City Society for Contemporary Photography for it's first exhibit. Well known and nationally recognized photographer, Patty Carroll, has juried the show and we'll meet at 5:30pm for a reception and tour of the exciting new space.
We'll depart the Linwood and Gillham area in time for the 7:30pm curtain at the Kauffman Center of Carmina Burana, a majestic dance and choral masterpiece. Written by Carl Orff and first performed as an opera at La Scala in 1942, this amazing work artistic work of art has now been transformed into a ballet choreographed by Adam Hougland. In addition two other works are featured on the program entitled Tulips and Lobster and Petal.
