Visit 21c Museum Hotel in downtown KC & Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck

In October, Arts Alive takes us to downtown Kansas City to visit 21c Museum Hotel, a vibrant multi-venue museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting art of the 21st century. From there we head to the Copaken Stage to see an iconic play, John Steinbeck's classic Of Mice and Men. Join us on Friday, October 19 at 5:45PM for a reception provided by the hotel and its well-known chef, Joe West. 21c is located at 219 West 9th Street where the Savoy Hotel and famous restaurant once thrived. This 120 room hotel has been completely renovated. The original restaurant has been restored and the booth where Harry Truman often dined is still there with the historic brass marker still in place.

Jori Cheville, Museum Manager, will discuss the collection which covers the entire ground and second floor of the hotel. The current rotating exhibit is entitled Refuge which addresses themes of migration around the world as seen through contemporary art.

We leave 21c Museum Hotel at 7:30PM for the H&R Block headquarters which houses the Kansas City Repertory's Copaken Stage. Of Mice and Men is the Steinbeck novella focusing on the Depression-era in California and the lives of George and Lennie, two migrant workers dreaming the American dream of buying land and owning their own ranch. Curtain is at 8PM.

Purchase your tickets today. Still only $35.00 for the entire evening.
