The Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity is housed in a beautifully restored former energy station that served the Union Station complex for many years. It now houses the administrative offices of the Kansas City Ballet and the rehearsal studios for the company and its extensive school of dance. We have been invited to view a rehearsal with the artistic director, Devon Carney, of a future ballet entitled “The Lottery”. Afterward we will meet the director and members of the ballet, then tour the facilities and admire the beautiful restoration of the Bolender Center.
The event begins at 5PM sharp on Tuesday, April 18th. First time visitors should turn north off Pershing Road just west of Union Station, then proceed west into the ballet parking area. There is general seating in the rehearsal studio. Please arrive in time to find a seat before the rehearsal begins.
At 6:45 we leave for the Monarch Glass Studio at 1919 E. Truman Road where we meet Tyler Kimball and Katie Hubbs, studio managers and view the best works of glass art on view at the Heartland Regional Glass Show. Selected works by Zach Arroyo, Adam Arth, Vernon Brejcha, Dierk Van Keppel and others will be on display. We will also observe a hotshot demonstration, a live glass blowing session.
Our reception will be catered at the glass studio by Californos.
Join us at the Bolender and the Monarch Glass Studio for another memorable cultural event. Seating at the rehearsal is limited so buy a ticket quickly.
**Please note that we do not mail our tickets in advance and will instead distribute them at the event. You will receive an email a day or two prior to the event confirming your registration.
***Also, we regret that we are unable to give refunds.
