Kansas City Repertory Theater "Mary's Wedding

We've missed you all. And the cultural art world has suffered greatly through the pandemic. As our city deals with COVID, vaccinations and the re-opening of entertainment venues, Arts Alive has put together a September event that should be of interest as we slowly return to the events we've loved over the years.

Mark your calendar for Friday, September 17th, and join us as we explore the beautiful new home of the Charlotte Street Foundation. Then travel a short distance to Liberty Memorial’s south lawn and WW1 Museum to enjoy the Kansas City Repertory production of Mary's Wedding, directed by Stuart Carden, the Reps new artistic director.

We'll meet at 5 p.m. at Charlotte Street, located just off Roanoke at 3333 Wyoming and tour the exhibit entitled “With Liberty and Justice”. Nine artists have been selected whose work reflects the history of America, evaluates the gaps in historical knowledge and questions the mythology of America in our collective imagination. The new facility is a masterpiece, redesigned by the architectural firm of Hufft and Associates.

We'll then proceed to Liberty Memorial for the 80 minute performance of Mary's Wedding, a new play written by Stephen Massicotte that takes place in 1914. WW1 is beginning and the world is collapsing into a brutal wartime experience. Meanwhile, a young couple has fallen in love and they experience their feelings for each other as the uncertainties of war surround them. This epic story of love, hope and survival should be a memorable experience.

When you arrive at Charlotte Street, we'll have drinks waiting for you. After touring the exhibit and beautiful new space, we'll offer you an additional beverage and box dinner to take with you to our next venue. Bring your chair or blanket as you arrive for the Rep performance. We'll try to reserve a space for our group and we'll provide proper spacing for you to relax and enjoy your picnic supper prepared by Urban Café while you enjoy the first Rep play of the new season.

Tickets for the play are valued at $30 each, however, we've arranged a special price for the play along with our visit to Charlotte Street Foundation, drinks, dinner and dessert for only $40 per ticket.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, your tickets will be good for Saturday or Sunday, the final performances.

We look forward to seeing all of you on the 17th.
