Englewood Arts

In the 23 years since Arts Alive began presenting monthly events, we've never been to Independence but now there's a very interesting venue to offer our membership!

Saturday afternoon, September 17th we'll meet at noon at the newly restored Englewood Arts Center. This area of Independence houses many small shops, an historic movie theater and a fabulous restaurant, Vivilore, which you might want to check out for a future visit. Englewood will eventually become the centerpiece for artists to work, present their work and live in the "arts" neighborhood.

We'll assemble in the lobby of the Englewood Arts Center and upon arrival have a locally catered lunch of shrimp and sausage gumbo, rice, cornbread, and a wonderful dessert.

After touring the building with the director, Michael Baxley, there will be a glassblowing demonstration as well as music provided by local live music group.

For those of you with extra time, the Truman Home is close by as is the newly re-opened Truman Library and you may want to proceed on your own to visit these venues.

The entire afternoon is only $35.00 per person and includes lunch, drinks, music, and tour of the facility. Get your friends together and join us for another unique Arts Alive cultural event.
